I realized that I have been getting a lot of traffic from that post so I decided to update it by writing this online business models you can start in Cameroon. It should be noted that there are many businesses that you can start with little or no capital in Cameroon.

Before going into that, it is very necessary for you to know what it entails to start a business in Cameroon. If you are foreigner, it will be necessary for you to understand Cameroon’s personal income and corporate taxation. Cameroon is an open country and aliens as well as nationals are allowed to own as high as 100% shares of their business. This may be just one of the reasons that you will want to invest in Cameroon.

You just need research and writing skills. I read somewhere that “reading is like breathing in and writing is like breathing out”. That notwithstanding, it doesn’t mean those with no writing skills cannot go in for a freelance online content writing business. You can still take course on how to write on the Internet for money. It is a big business as content writers and marketers are in great need. The demand for online content from Africa by Africans is becoming very great. 2. Online brokerage

Just like in the real world, brokers are those that make the market. They are those that bring the buyers and sellers together to facilitate transactions. At the end of the day, they will earn a commission either from one or both parties. It could be business-to-consumers (B2C) or business-to-business (B2B). The unique thing about this business model is that they sell products and services through websites. Examples of brokerage models include eBay, Macys.com and we can find Jumia, Sellamquick, etc. in Cameroon.

3. Affiliate marketing

This is one of the most popular methods people use to make money online. In this model, you partner with a business to refer visitors or readers to any of its product or service for a commission. In this case, the business pays online retailers a commission for traffic or sales generated from referring the product or service to an external website. Writing content is an added advantage for those who plan to become affiliate marketers. There are many sites out there that offer affiliate marketing opportunities like Amazon Associates and Jumia Affiliate Program in Cameroon.

This type of business model is not very new in Cameroon just that we have been practicing the offline version of it. There are many people out there that earn a living from bonuses they earn usually called “ndzama” by referring clients to other businesses.

The nice thing with affiliate marketing online business model is that you don’t need to be physically present in a specific country before entering into it. You can also start as an affiliate marketer with very little capital which maybe your data bundle or your phone. There are some affiliate sites that require you to pay in a subscription fee before joining them. Some are country, regionally, or internationally based.

4. Dropshipping

As I said above, it is possible to apply one model or a combination of the online business models. The reason I am saying so is because you will see that most of the businesses I have mentioned above are practicing a combination of models I have been presenting.

Let’s go back to the dropshipping business model. This model allows you to sell products to customers without having the stock yourself. Even though dropshipping isn’t a new business model in Cameroon, the online version where the name developed may still have enough space for newcomers. If you have been selling products without having a stock, it is high time to widen your market by searching for customers online. Popular dropshipping sites in Cameroon include Jumia, Kerawa, Sellamquick and many others.

You must not have a professional ecommerce website like the above examples as you can start dropshipping online business in Cameroon just using social media.
