The Cameroon Chamber of Commerce and Industries in a release on their website informs Cameroonian businessmen of the 60th edition of the Damascus International Fair that will take place from September 6 to 15 2018. The fair which has been held annually in the Umayyad Square since 1954 is the oldest in the Middle East. Last years edition brought in more than 2 million business men from 43 countries all over the world.

The Public Establishment for International Fairs and Exhibitions of the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade is the organizer of the fair. The Damascus fair ground is one of the biggest in the world with over 1,2 million square meter and located between on Highway of the city of Damascus and the International Airport. The objective of the fair is to open to business actors opportunities, programs, tools and finance that will help in the expansion of their businesses. It will help to sensitize them in the importance of innovations in investment and project creation.

The annual commercial exhibition described as “The Syrian economy’s window to the world”, was suspended once in 2012 due to the Syrian Civil War and started again in 2017 where it had its 59th edition. The fairgrounds, which is one of the biggest in the world has exhibition halls, facilities and services all of global modern standards.

The Damascus International Fair is a member of the Global Association for Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences (AUIEC). It is a member of the Board of Directors and represents the East Regional Office for the latter.
