A Beginner’s Guide to Start an Import Business in Cameroon
Are you planning on starting an import business in Cameroon? Importing products in Cameroon is not difficult as people say. Most people are not aware of the procedures to follow and so usually fall prey to unscrupulous middlemen. In this post, I will be sharing with you procedures to follow to operate an import business in Cameroon. Just like those who are carrying out export activities, you will need to follow the three stages below in order to become an importer:
You need to register your business in the Trade and Commerce Register
You need to obtain a professional merchant (trader) card
You need to register as an importer and obtain an importer’s card
Let this not scare you. It means you first of all have to own a legal business. You need to register your business before you carry out import activities in Cameroon. You can register your business at the court of first instance at the location of the place you want to register your import business. It Business be a sole-proprietorship or a company. 2. Obtain a professional merchant (trader) card
You have to register and own a professional trader’s card before you import in Cameroon. This document is obtained at the Directorate of External Trade in the at the Ministry of Commerce in Yaounde.
3. Obtain an Importer’s Card
Operators that want to start an import business in Cameroon will need to have an importer’s card issued to them. The importer’s card just like the merchant card is obtained at the Directorate of External Trade in the Ministry of Commerce in Yaounde.
